Notable achievements include initiating the Net Zero Teesside Power project, completing the first planned M25 closures since 1986, and using innovative construction techniques on HS2. The company also enhanced urban mobility in Bradford and protected thousands of homes from flooding. Employee engagement reached a record high of 84%, driven by initiatives like the Right to Respect programme. Balfour Beatty's commitment to sustainability, safety, and technological innovation further solidified its position as a market leader, resulting in a 40% increase in share price.

Galliford Try

Galliford Try delivered another strong performance in 2024, building on strong foundations to take a significant step forward in the growth of the business.The advancement of our 2026 Sustainable Growth targets two years early, demonstrates the significant progress of our business and allowed us to set new, ambitious targets to 2030. This was made possible by the commitment of our people to deliver for clients, utilising innovative methods, and prioritising sustainable practices.We are playing an increasingly significant role in enhancing the lives of people across the UK, underpinning economic growth and supporting the Government with its strategic objectives.

Mace Group

In 2024, Mace excelled by delivering outstanding projects, service excellence, and maintaining a strong commitment to quality, safety and developing first-class teams. Our revenue grew by 17%, completed 27 projects, and saved our clients 250,000 tonnes of carbon. We supported 125 charities, created £4.3m in social value, and empowered thousands through education and employment. Our innovative approach, demonstrated on projects such as the Heathrow Cargo Tunnel, 40 Leadenhall, and Manchester Airport, set us apart. Mace remained not only one of the largest contractors in the UK, but one that continued to lead the industry and make a positive impact.

McLaren Construction

McLaren Construction sealed its status in 2024 as the first new Tier One UK contractor of the last decade, despite harsh market conditions. On course for turnover of over £1 billion, McLaren has delivered strong growth in profitability, rigorous digital business systems and bold project wins. Thirty High, Angel Square and 318 Oxford Street show leadership in cut-and-carve. Effective inflation management, consistent leadership and strong customer relationships, rewarded with 74% repeat business, made 2024 one of McLaren’s most successful years yet. McLaren ended the year with expansion into new regions and construction disciplines and ambitious Scope 3 carbon reduction targets.

Multiplex Construction Europe

Multiplex’s exceptional 2024 performance sets new benchmarks in construction, driven by technical expertise, innovation, sustainability, and client satisfaction. Completing flagship projects such as One Nine Elms and Argyle Street, and securing six major developments, we delivered transformative solutions, cutting carbon and overcoming logistical challenges. We developed industry-first initiatives - like the Façade Embodied Carbon Calculator and Electric Arc Furnace metal decking - showcasing our commitment to sustainability, and continued to support our people and the industry. With a forward-thinking approach to workforce diversity, safety, and supply chain collaboration, Multiplex is constructing a better future, setting the stage for continued excellence.

Through careful, strategic governance and a unique One Murphy direct-delivery approach, Murphy has successfully navigated industry uncertainty to secure major project wins in four countries, delivering a record financial performance that ensures its success into its 75th anniversary and beyond.Murphy supports customers to deliver world-class infrastructure on critical national infrastructure projects whilst keeping a focus on its purpose of improving life in the communities it works in.Murphy has also continued to invest in the ongoing development of its people. In 2024 Murphy has been recognised externally for its industry-leading approach, including by the CIPD and Investors in People.

In 2024, VolkerFitzpatrick delivered standout projects, showcasing expertise in rail, infrastructure, and building. From Eastbrook Studios, London’s largest film hub, to RAF Lakenheath, University Station, and Heathrow’s southern runway, our teams demonstrated exceptional problem-solving and collaboration. Industry-leading innovation, from 3D safety technology to carbon reduction initiatives, drives our success.
