Health, safety & security director - phase 1,
Steven started his career as an electrical apprentice for British Rail. After several years on the tools, Steven moved into the Health & Safety arena. Following 10 years with British Rail he moved into the construction sector working for Lovell Construction, Sir Robert McAlpline, Skanska and Arup, including 6 years on the construction of High Speed 1 between Folkestone and St.Pancras station in London. During this time, Steven attained a Masters Degree from Leicester University in Health & Safety Management, with a special interest in behavioural safety programmes.
Following this, over an 8 year period, Steven held several senior leadership roles for Network Rail on major projects and as Head of Health & Safety for their national projects business.
In January 2015, Steven took up the role of Health, Safety & Security Director for Phase 1 of High Speed 2 and is responsible for assisting the business in building its capabilities to act as Client for the multi-billion pound Civils, Stations and Railway Systems contracts that will be procured, designed and constructed over the next 10 years.
