Ian has a market leading reputation for successfully leading and delivering major change in some of the UK’s most complex and iconic infrastructure programmes. He is recognised for his extensive UK transport sector knowledge and his combination of major programmes experience, commercial / technical grounding within a complex stakeholder and executive environment.
Recently, Ian has been working within Schiphol Airport helping to design and develop their Capital Projects division. He also has been working within the MoD, developing their commercial master plan in DE&S and developing their estates programme strategy in DIO. Ian previously was brought into TfL as interim MD to help design and transform their New Major Projects Directorate (MPD).
Prior to this, Ian was a member of the Heathrow Executive Committee and was the Director of all procurement activities across the airport including key areas such as construction, operations, IT and back office. Ian was brought in to transform the Heathrow procurement approach, and in 2016 was awarded the CIPS most transformed Procurement function, best Procurement people programme, and overall winners for best Procurement organisation.
Prior to joining Heathrow in November 2012, Ian held a number of senior positions across a range of infrastructure organisations. Ian not only brings with him a wealth of Procurement knowledge, but also his broader experience as the Thames Water Engineering Projects Director delivering a £500m per annum construction programme, and more recently as the Network Rail Transformation Director successfully developing and delivering a £3Bn business change programme across their infrastructure and maintenance business.
