Catherine De Marco is a Deputy Director at the Department for Transport, responsible for delivering the Transport Infrastructure Skills and Efficiency strategies. The Skills Strategy is aimed at increasing uptake of apprenticeships in transport, and 2 years on has successfully increased these by 22%, bucking the wider economic trend. She is a member of the Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce, which is Chaired by Mike Brown, Commissioner of Transport for London. More recently, Catherine has added the Efficiency strategy to her portfolio, this is aimed at improving project delivery in transport, underpinned by improved cost benchmarking, the promotion of long-term collaborative relationships and exploiting digital technology to derive opportunities to innovate, invest and upskill to boost productivity. Prior to her current role, Catherine worked in a variety of other roles at the Department for Transport and in consultancy.
