Euan has more than 25 years’ experience working in the nuclear industry in nuclear safety, operations and programme management.
He graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh with a BSc Hons in Applied Physics in 1991.
Euan has developed experience and qualifications in the management of safety and the safe and efficient delivery of diverse programmes of projects, in the context of complex nuclear related operations.
He joined Sellafield in 1991 and has carried out a variety of roles including health physics support officer in Thorp commissioning and early operations, safety and decommissioning programme delivery.
He left Sellafield in 2008 to develop commercial and financial management skills and to gain a broader set of experiences through delivering work at other sites in the nuclear supply chain, both in the UK and abroad. He was project director at Jordan Nuclear Limited and operations manager at Serco Energy.
He returned to Sellafield in 2012 to help deliver our risk and hazard reduction mission and to bring the experiences that were gained elsewhere to support the successful delivery of the site’s strategy. He held the posts of programme manager and deputy to the Director of EHS&Q and Head of EHS&Q Decommissioning respectively. He became Director of EHS&Q for Sellafield Ltd in 2016.
Euan moved to a new role at Sellafield, Chief Nuclear Officer, in March 2018. The Chief Nuclear Officer is accountable for ensuring that the strategic direction of the organisation and the implementation of transformational changes do not adversely impact on nuclear safety and security, and that the business maintains nuclear safety and security as a core value.
Euan is a member of the Society for Radiation Protection (MSRP) and the Association for Project Management (MAPM).
