Shaun is the Programme Director for Highways England’s Smart Motorway’s Programme, delivering a £4bn investment in the motorway network by upgrading over 400 miles of the existing strategic road network to Smart Motorway. Smart Motorways use technology alongside additional lane capacity to tackle congestion, improve capacity and enhance safety on the motorway network, at a fraction of the cost of building or widening the network Before joining Highways England Shaun led many major projects at Transport for London and delivered the Olympic Route Network, the Hammersmith Flyover, the Silvertown Tunnel, and the Cycle Superhighway programme. Shaun also has wide experience in the energy sector and can claim to have brought natural gas to Northern Ireland. He also worked on the £1.2bn In Salah Gas project, as well as the first gas and oil pipeline linking the Middle-east to Europe.
