She has a wide range of experience with high profile clients and always is proactive to get out of her comfort zone and ultimately her eagerness to learn and her hunger to satisfy client needs is what makes her one of the most ambitious young people this industry has ever seen.

Alexander Donald is Breheny Civil Engineering’s Rising Star thanks to his dedication, drive, enthusiasm and inquisitive nature. These attributes have led him to not only exceed at his role but to help others and the business as a whole. He has voluntarily taken on additional responsibilities, some of which have moved our company forward in key areas such as data analysis and carbon reduction. Alex has a bright future in the industry and we are proud to nominate him.

Lukas, a Senior Structural Engineer at Eckersley O’Callaghan, excels in overcoming diverse challenges. He is notably contributing to our current project, the TUMO’s Convergence Centre in Yerevan, Armenia. Leading seismic design efforts, Lukas blends innovation with structural resilience, garnering praise for his collaborative approach and technical excellence. His swift career ascent includes achieving Chartered Membership with the IStructE and nomination for their Young Structural Engineering Professional Award. Lukas advocates for sustainability and enthusiastically shares his expertise in structural analysis. Committed to growth, he aims to become a leading technical expert, supported by his firm’s investment in his leadership and development.

Danny Newland
J Coffey Group

Danny Newland is nominated for the Rising Star award because of his outstanding contribution to positive mental health in construction. Danny has overcome his considerable personal adversities and has gone on to help and support so many others through volunteering and positive active engagement.Having pulled himself through drug addiction, homelessness and imprisonment, Danny now volunteers up to 3 nights a week visiting prisons and homeless shelters and arranges 12 step meetings for others. Danny has recently won The HS2 Safe at Heart Supervisor of the year 2023 award and The Forward Trust Volunteer Award.

Elliott Pycroft

Elliott is destined for a bright future as an industry leader for years to come. At just the age of 24 he is already a project director on a £77 million scheme in London. He demonstrates significant leadership in the way he builds his team and ensures that they are all working as one whilst leaning on his significant network he has developed over the years to ensure the project team are all driving in the same direction. Elliott has a drive to push boundaries and help lead the way in modernizing the industry through more sustainable and efficient methods.

Macy Richards
Milestone Infrastructure

Macy has shown exceptional enthusiasm, communication skills and initiative throughout the first 3 years of her apprenticeship. She has shown considerable leadership skills through leading other activities outside of her project and university work, in particular with Milestone’s ‘Graduate and Trainee Forum’. Her role in Milestone’s Social Value work has been notable – leading fundraising activities, running local Primary School visits to promote construction/road safety, and speaking at a range of recent STEM events – acting as an exceptional female role model to those considering construction careers. This has resulted in Macy gaining significant recognition within and outside of Milestone.

Francesca Crawford-Merrett
Mott MacDonald

Francesca is dedicated to wellbeing and improving society. From her work in enhancing Mott MacDonald’s Wellbeing Impact Evaluation Tool, ensuring sustainability and wellbeing are integrated into projects, her role as Early Career Professional for the Global Transport Buildings Practice, as well as the impact she has had in project work. Her focus on open communication and putting safety of workers and the community at the heart of all decisions has been recognized by clients and stakeholders. Francesca advocates a people-centered approach in the construction industry - from her colleagues to the communities she builds for.

Abi Taylor

In just four years, Abi has earned several promotions thanks to her hard work, dedication, foresight and continued drive for professional and personal development, while also pursuing a part-time degree apprenticeship in Quality Surveying. She is passionate about promoting the construction industry as a viable career path for young people from diverse backgrounds, especially young women. To this end, she has led and participated in several career fairs, mentored more junior colleagues and introduced several key community partnerships to Reds10.  She has been instrumental in successfully delivering several multi-million-pound school buildings, providing young people with inspiring environments to learn.
