BBVS have been able to implement a comprehensive carbon management system throughout the project value chain going beyond best practice. This collaborative approach to carbon management ensures buy in from all project participants and fosters a culture where discussions around low-carbon solutions and innovative construction practices are encouraged. This has led to the trialling and implementation of pioneering industry leading products, technologies and solution which have demonstrably reduced the projects carbon footprint and will continue to do so as the project moves through construction and into operation.
BAMUK&I was an early adopter of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) which is considered the highest standard when it comes to verifying an organisation’s carbon targets. On being appointed as the main contractor on the CTLR project for Perth & Kinross Council they committed to achieving a reduction in the project’s carbon footprint by over 35,000 tCO2e, to just under 50,000 tCO2e. Now, as the project approaches the halfway mark, the company has predicted savings of circa 35,000 tCO2e, to be achieved through ongoing, continuous assessment of all areas of the build.
