Company Innovation of the Year

Pre lift crane checks
Ainscough Crane Hire

Crane accidents, although rare, unfortunately still happen. Even if they are well planned and executed by experienced competent people. Consequences though, can be fatal. The implementation of “Ready for Work” pre use crane checks, fills a vital gap that has existed for decades within our industry, with parties wrongly believing that it was someone else’s responsibility. The implementation of this process has only been possible with development and use of Apps and QR codes that did not exist previously together with a management information that sits at the very core of the system. This innovative process will save lives.

Housing Bond Alliance

Protecting social housing development projects

After the increase in contractor insolvencies in 2024, the Housing Bond Alliance, a not-for-profit organisation, provided surety bond support, and advice to the social housing industry. The support in securing performance bonds has protected over 70 of our members against contractor insolvency preventing significant delays and substantial cost increases. The HBA’s commitment to social responsibility is further shown through our fundraising efforts, benefiting charities in the social housing sector. The HBA has safeguarded its members, ensuring the delivery of social housing and that families in need have access to the homes they deserve.

Data-driven carbon savings
Sapphire Balconies

By being transparent about the environmental impact of our products, we hope to drive positive change in the construction industry and encourage others to follow suit. We have created separate EPDs for our thermally broken balcony anchors and Cassette® Balconies. These EPDs provide an in-depth analysis of each product's environmental impact, allowing customers to understand the impact of their material choices and balcony method.

Revolutionising construction with a kit-of-parts approach
WSP

Traditionally, construction involves the delivery of millions of components to the site by hundreds of trucks and the efforts of thousands of workers, leading to significant inefficiencies and challenges for project teams. Our kit-of-parts approach revolutionises this process by introducing a programme-level design management system that integrates customised off-site manufacturing solutions with a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) workflow. This approach allows projects to be scaled up to a programme level, where policies can be tailored to meet client-specific goals. This game-changing approach has already benefited Manchester Airport and the Environment Agency.
