Michelle leads the strategic advisory and research service line at Cast which is focused on providing Clients with solutions to creating new delivery platforms or business opportunities to expand or grow sector involvement. Michelle has worked in the Residential Sector for 14 years. Michelle started her career working for Tribal Group as a residential consultant supporting Housing Associations & Local Authorities with Strategic Needs Assessment and Business & Financial Planning for housing in London, and the regions. Michelle previously spent five years with EC Harris (latterly Arcadis).

Michelle joined EC Harris as a financial analyst within the Residential business, and most recently headed up the Financial Modelling Team that was focussed on providing Clients with residential development consultancy advice and support in relation to site acquisition, masterplanning, planning viability and the raising of equity & debt financing. Michelle provides strategic advice to senior and board level management across a range of client bodies including private developers, housing associations and local authorities with integrated self-delivery models.

Commissions are diverse but tend to involve a blend of both quantitative and qualitative primary research techniques to provide an informed analysis of a range of markets in terms of construction and manufacturing technologies and residential tenures. Deliverables are wrapped with providing real market insight into activity within the sector from the perspective of both buyers and sellers of alternative delivery models.

Michelle is an expert in viability strategy and modelling for mixed use developments including both private and affordable tenures, and has worked for housebuilders, developers, landowners and the public sector (acting as a developer). Some of Michelle’s clients include / have included Grosvenor, Argent, Fizzy Living, Select Property, Residential Securities, Network Housing Group, Affinity Sutton, Delancey, Crest Nicholson, Persimmon, Taylor Wimpey, Marshall Group, London Borough of Camden, London Borough of Southwark, One Housing Group, UK Regeneration, Steamrock Capital, Legal and General and Decco.

Michelle’s has a bespoke approach to viability appraisals which are tailored to clients’ needs which support driving levels of return. Her focus is to enable better decision making on masterplan optimisation through transparent modelling that sets target outcomes for the project team. Michelle in experienced in modelling both development and investment appraisal scenarios and has supported developers with modelling the investment into long-term asset ownership such as that of Build to Rent.

The modelling, although financial focused, takes into consideration early stages of brand strategy and long-term operational strategy.

Michelle is actively engaged in contributing to knowledge sharing within the construction industry through speaking at a range of construction related events and the publication / contribution to the publication of various papers such as: The Rental Space Race in October 2016 by Cast Modern Methods of Construction.
