Anthony Dewar is a distinguished civil engineer with over two decades of experience in both the private and public sectors. He currently serves as the Professional Head of Buildings and Architecture at Network Rail, where he oversees national standards, policies, and international benchmarking for the organisation’s built environment assets.

Anthony’s professional journey encompasses roles in various private sector firms, such as Jacobs Babtie, Louis Berger Inc., and Railtrack, as well as significant positions in public sector organizations, including Network Rail and Network Rail (High Speed), where he was the Head of Civil Engineering and Environment on High Speed 1.

Throughout his career, Anthony has been instrumental in elevating the importance of design within rail infrastructure. His notable achievements include forming Network Rail’s independent design panel, developing design principles, and reinvigorating the organization’s design approach through competitions and the introduction of built environment design guidance.

A Chartered Engineer, Anthony is a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Society of Arts. He is also a member of the National Infrastructure Commission’s Design Group contributing his expertise to the advancement of infrastructure design excellence in the UK.

In recent years, Anthony has been involved in innovative projects aimed at improving railway infrastructure.
