Steven started his career as an electrical apprentice for British Rail. After several years on the tools, Steven moved into the Health & Safety arena. Following 10 years with British Rail he moved into the construction sector working for Lovell Construction, Sir Robert McAlpline, Skanska and Arup, including six years on the construction of High Speed 1 between Folkestone and St.Pancras station in London. During this time, Steven attained a Masters Degree from Leicester University in Health & Safety Management, with a special interest in behavioural safety programmes.
Following this, over an eight year period, Steven held several senior leadership roles for Network Rail on major projects and as Head of Health & Safety for their national projects business.
In January 2015, Steven joined High Speed 2 and is currently the head of HSE operations responsible for assisting the business in building its capabilities to act as client for the multi-billion pound Civils, Stations and Railway Systems contracts that will be procured, designed and constructed over the next 10+ years.
